Camp At Resolute
Summer Camp is a 5 night and 6 day adventure held customarily (within Troop 23) the last week in July or the first week in August. Throughout the week scouts are able to earn 2 to 3 merit badges and are also alloted ample time to take part in activities during the afternoon like C.O.P.E., Troop Shoot, Free Swim and many others. Also, patrols are allowed to participate in events like The Resolute Challenge, The Resolute Trialthalon, The Water Carnival, and the highlight of the week: The Apache Relay. Each day starts with a flag ceremony on the parade field and is filled with three ineractive and song filled meals in the dining hall as well as three merit badge periods and also free time. Every troop is welcomed and parted with a camp-wide bonfire and family BBQ on friday afternoon. The week is one filled jam packed with activites and each scout is sure to leave with many new friends and memories.

-Buddy Tag Board For Apache Campsite At Waterfront

Troop 23 has resided in the southwest corner of Camp Resolute at the Apache campsite for the past three years. The site was originally established by Ashland's sister troop, Troop 2. Much like every other site, it contains about 15 tent platforms with 2 cots each, one latrine with trough-style sink, one fire ring, picnic tables and one pavillion.

A Scout Is Clean. A Scout Is Helpful

  • Throughout the week each scout is expected to help keep the campsite tidy. This includes keeping a neat and organized tent and also helping to pick up trash around the campsite. Also, duty rosters are traditionally made and each scout will at one time or another have to either clean the fire pit or latrine. At one point during the week the whole troop takes part in cleaning the nearest shower house.
  • Scouts are also expected to shower daily. Shower houses are located within moderate distances of each camp site.
  • As part of the duty roster scouts will be assigned to serve as the waiter for at least one meal during the week.

Merit Badges
Each scout has the opportunity to earn 2 to 3 (depending on length of requirements) merit badges throughout the week. For the most part all materials necessary to successfully complete each merit badge are provided by the camp. There are two or three badges in which the scout is required to bring their own materials. i.e: Fishing and Fly Fishing - each scout should bring their own tackle box and rod. Further information on this subject will be posted later.

Staff
The staff at Camp Resolute is always changing but there are a few faces that you see each year. Each staff member you meet from the Rifle Range to the Waterfront is cheerful, friendly, and is eager to make each scout's time at camp as pleasant and memorable as possible.

After the age of 14 it is possible to become a Counselor In Training (CIT) and even become a full time member of the staff!

Provisional Troop 244
If a scout wishes to stay at camp for more than just one week that is certainly possible! They would stay with the Resolute house troop, Troop 244. This is composed of a camp staff leader and other scouts who have chosen to stay additional weeks. If you are not able to attend camp on the scheduled week that your troop is attending then you may stay with Troop 244 during any of the other 5 sessions.
